This afternoon saw King’s College students gather in the Great Hall for a Waitangi Day observance.

Caroline Fitzgerald, whose great great grandfather Reverend Henry Williams was responsible for the translation of the Treaty of Waitangi into te reo, addressed the crowd.

Reverend Williams along with his wife Marianne was an early missionary in the Bay of Islands.

Caroline is an independent documentary filmmaker, historian and writer.

Students Waka Wikaire-James (Year 12, Parnell) and Te Aria Jackson (Year 12, Marion Bruce) led karakia during today’s gathering.
