In the stage 1 time trial, Tom finished first in the 9 kilometre race - an expected win as this race was his specialty. In stage 2, a 104km road race, he also finished 1st thereby ensuring he held the General Classification (GC) jersey to go into the final race the following day. A 3rd place finish in the 96km road race on Sunday was enough to clinch the GC win and thus defend his title.
Next up, Tom is preparing for the Oceania Championships in Australia and the National Age Group Championships in Hokitika, prior to going overseas to race in Belgium during Term 2. Exciting times lie ahead for Tom, and we wish him all the best in his pursuit to turn this into a career.
