King’s College students were thrilled to cheer on their peers in person last Friday at the House Athletics finals.

The top spot in the House competition was taken out by Parnell on 778 points, followed by Selwyn on 637 and Major on 626, and we saw a bunch of school records broken too.

Hanna Louisson Cup for Junior Boys Champion

Setting a new record in the 800m and winning the 1500m and 3000m and triple jump was Parnell House’s Quinn Moss (Year 10), who took out the 2021 Junior Boys’ Championship.

Wigmore Cup for Intermediate Boys Champion

School House’s Kahu Cotterill (Year 11) set a new record in the Intermediate Boys’ 100m with a time of 11.38. He also won the 200m and 400m to be crowned Intermediate Boys Champion.

Taylor Cup for Intermediate Girls Champion, Marion Bruce Cup for Throwing Events

Ace throwerand Intermediate Girls Champion Suzie Kennelly (Year 12, Middlemore/Selwyn) set two new school records – one in shot put and one in discus.  

Julie Ah Chee Cup for Senior Girls Champion, Marion Bruce Cup for Jumping Events

Sophie Sones (Year 12, Marion Bruce/Major) dominated the Senior Girls’ Championship topping the 100 metres, 100 metre hurdles, long jump and high jump.

J. E. Fagan Memorial Cup for Senior Boys Champion

With first placings in the 100 metres, 200 metres, long jump and triple jump, the Senior Boys Competition, the William Thode Memorial Cup for Long Jump and the Heath Cup for jumping events were won by Jonty Willis (Year 13, Selwyn). Special mention also goes to Toby Tasker (Year 13, Peart) who won the Dawkins Cup for Distance Races, having taken out the 1500m, 3000m and 2000m steeple (new record). Congratulations also to Oliver Hatch (Year 12, Major) who, in winning shot put and discus, won the Cooper/Phillips Cup for Throwing Events.
