The ceremony was attended by The Right Reverend, Bishop Ross Bay, Bishop of Auckland; The Venerable Michael Berry, Archdeacon of the Southern Region; Archbishop John Paterson (Major, 1958-62); other special guests and members of the King's College community.

The ceremony began with an introduction by Bishop Ross Bay in which he acknowledged the extraodinary circumstances of the postponed ceremony noting that "It may seem strange that we are welcoming Gareth in a service such as this when he has been in the school for over two terms and served previously here for seven years as Assistant Chaplain, but this is a significant change in ministry and role which needs to be formally recognised and affirmed."

Reverend Walters was then presented to the school and commissioned into the Ministry by the Bishop before being presented four symbols of the Ministry: the bible, bread and wine, a prayer book, and a bowl and towel.

The service concluded with musical items courtesy of the King's College Chapel Choir, Chapel Band, Choir Director Ms Gina Sanders and organist Mr Paul Chan and a haka by the King's College students in attendance.

The College welcomes Reverend Walters back to King's and congratulates his formal induction into his new role as Head Chaplain.
