Like the many students have done each day for many years, guests walked the drive to the House and were welcomed back with a Karanga and Mihi Whakatau carried out by Parnell Kuia, former staff member Lincoln Savage and Old Collegian and current Board of Governor’s member Hugh Cotterill (Parnell, 1983–87).

Andy Baker (Parnell, 1979–83) kindly MC’d  the event which included recollections from Old Parnellians including John Harre (Parnell, 1945–49), Guy Macindoe (Parnell, 1969–73; Head of House) David English (Parnell, 1954–58; Parnell House Master, 1975–76), John McKay (Parnell, 1983–87, Head Boy), Kenzo Pannell (Parnell, 1998–2002, Head Boy) and current Head of House Anoop Saini (Parnell, 2016–20).

House Master Harry Wichman received the House flag from current Parnell boys which will be kept safe till when it is raised again early next year at the opening of the new Parnell Day House.
