James' selection for the team came about after his stellar placing at the North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Intermediate Long Distance Championship at Waiuku forest where he beat a number of older competitors to finish in first place. He recorded a time of 40 minutes and 11 seconds, a minute clear of his nearest competitor.
Unfortunately the NZSS team is restricted to being a paper team this year as all overseas fixtures were disrupted by the pandemic.
Nonetheless, the College congratulates James on his fantastic achievement and looks forward to his future endeavours representing both the College and the country in orienteering.
