A smaller-than-usual King's team of four star swimmers competed at the postponed NZSS Swimming Champs in Hamilton last week and produced some seriously impressive results.

Hugo Batchelor

King's was represented by a small team of four swimmers, with exams and other factors unfortunately stopping the rest of the squad from attending. The four who did attend performed remarkably well however, especially considering their preparation had been hampered by pool closures in Auckland during the second COVID-19 outbreak.

Hugo Batchelor (Year 11, Greenbank) had an outstanding swim meet, winning 5 Gold medals and 1 Silver in the Boys 15-year old grade and set four personal best times.

                                        Time:
Gold:

400m Freestyle               4:03.75

200m Freestyle               1:54.56

100m Butterfly                   57.53

200m Butterfly                2:06.30

200m Medley                  2:09.30

Silver:

100m Freestyle                  52.95

Sam Wright (Year 9, Major) also had a good meet missing out on one medal by 0.03 of a second but did win a Silver medal in the Boy’s 13-year old grade-:

50m Breaststroke              32.63

Chris Jiang (Year 10, Major) had a successful meet winning two Bronze medals in the Boy’s 15-year old grade-:

200m Medley                  2:13.60

50m Butterfly                     26.83

Holly Hunn (Year 12, Taylor) set two personal best times.

The College would like to congratulate Hugo, Sam, Chris and Holly for their ourstanding performance.
