The King’s Junior Badminton players took part in the Yonex NZSS Junior badminton Competition last week, over three days. They played 7 matches and won 5. This placed them second equal on points.

NZSS Badminton Champs

Each match consisted of a doubles and a singles match for each player in a best of three sets to 21 points. Most matches were very close as the quality of players was very high. All boys played a minimum of 30 sets and were exhausted at the end.

On a “tie-break” countback that was decided on how each team fared against the winning team, we were placed 4th even though we beat the Silver medalists. They played the overall winners earlier in the competition whilst we played them in our last match – all players were exhausted.

The boys in the team were: Jamie Cheng, Alex Wu, David Wang and Ray Shiu.

A great week albeit tinged with a little disappointment at the end.
