Finn Matheson, Marsden old boy and coach of the Kings college archery team, recently spent 1 month at the World Archery Excellence centre in Switzerland training on the high performance programme under the guidance of world renowned coach Youngsook Park.

During his time in Switzerland Finn competed in an international tournament and broke the New Zealand U21 men's record that has stood since 2010 and achieved an Olympic qualifying score.

Finn has returned to New Zealand for the summer tournaments and while he prepares for selection to the national team he is sharing his knowledge with younger Year 9 Marsden archer Thornton Wallberg.

Thornton has had great success this year setting two U14 New Zealand records and recently completing and winning The Spring Fever Tournament as an U18, qualifying for the New Zealand team. He hopes to join Finn, representing New Zealand at Trans-Tasman and Oceania next year in Australia.
