Over the Term 1 holiday break, some of our King’s College choral students, former and present, were working towards competing at the 13th World Choir Games in July as members of the Aotearoa New Zealand Academy Choir. The Aotearoa New Zealand Academy Choir is one of New Zealand’s national choirs and consists of many experienced singers across the country who share a common passion for choral music and choral excellence. A few weeks ago, the Academy Choir sang at an Anzac Day Service at the Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch.

We would like to congratulate two of our King’s students, past and current, for their leadership roles within the choir. Our Head Chorister, Daniel Shieff (Year 13, Averill), was appointed as the Bass Section Leader. Max Wilson (Peart, 2012–16), was appointed as one of the Co-Leaders of the Aotearoa New Zealand Academy Choir. The choir includes Old Collegians Krishna Peddinti (Major, 2019–23) and Max Wilson, along with current students Daniel Shieff, Marcus Ngo (Year 13, Marsden), Logan Ding (Year 13, Peart), and Ella Cham (Year 13, Marion Bruce).

We wish them all the very best as they prepare for and compete at the World Choir Games!
