The King’s College Sailing team made up of Hamish Mclaren (Year 12, Greenbank), Chester Duffett (Year 13, Selwyn), Oscar Little (Year 12, Major) and Nick Yates (Year 13, School) competed in the National SS Harken Regatta over the weekend, 15 – 17 March.

The top sailing schools in the country compete in this regatta, giving King’s the chance to go head-to-head against some tough competition. A strong finish saw the boys bring home a third place.

“The competition was very strong with 9 of the 10 boats skippered and crewed by NZ youth squad sailors,” says the Sailing team’s manager, Bryan Sapsworth.

“They were determined to put in a good effort on the Sunday and it showed with two firsts at the end, to only narrowly miss out on a win over Auckland Grammar School.
