The new revised format for House Golf took place on Tuesday afternoon with seven Houses turning out immaculately for the inaugural 10 hole Strokeplay event at Royal Auckland Golf Club

“The wind made for some pretty testing conditions, especially with the first tee off from the straight into a stiff breeze, but some very good golf was played on the day,” says Teacher-in-charge of Golf, Richard MacCallum.

A shotgun start and a double loop of five holes ensured that the teams were always in sight of each other, and a good bubble of camaraderie developed through the afternoon. The teams finished close together and there was an air of anticipation as the scores were totted up.

Early scores in had Greenbank down as a potential winner, but dark horses Marsden snuck in with their lead player, Sara Harlock (Year 11, Taylor), recording the winning score to win by two strokes.

The low individual for the day was Cullen White (Year 12, Major) with a creditable 42 strokes.

“It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon on the course and an excellent event with good all round play,” says Mr MacCallum.

Results as follows:

  1. Marsden (147) (Sara Harlock, Joseph Clearkin, Nick Lindberg)
  2. Averill (149)
  3. Greenbank (150)
  4. Selwyn (153)
  5. Major (155)
  6. Peart (161)
  7. School (162)
