We are enormously proud of our musicians who have achieved amazing results at the National  Youth Jazz Competition held last week in Tauranga.

Held on the 4, 5 and 6 April at the Baycourt Community & Arts Centre, Tauranga there were 23 coveted trophies for best in competition, prizes and bronze, silver and gold awards to be won, along with performances, workshops and jams over the three days.

King's students had a very successful competition and achieved more awards than they ever have before - a huge achievement for all students and teachers involved who had worked really hard to prepare for the competition.

The King's winners were:

  • Little Big Band - Gold Award (first time ever)
  • Friggy Dom Combo - Gold Award
  • Rons Coal Train - Bronze Award
  • Ted Coop (Year 11, Selwyn) - Best Saxophone in NZ Trophy
