This International Women’s Day, King’s girls were treated to a livestreamed virtual panel, enjoyed over breakfast in their Houses.

They heard from four remarkable women who, interviewed by Deputy Head Pedagogy Melissa Irving, spoke about topics relating to this year’s International Women’s Day theme: breaking the bias.

We were lucky to virtually welcome:

  • EY Global Corporate Finance Woman of the Year Kate Gatfield-Jeffries (Middlemore, 2015-16), who has gone on to launch mental wellness brand Moodi,
  • Old Collegian Jen Jones (Taylor, 2007-08) who runs project consulting business Nine Yards Consulting,
  • Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors Vanessa Stoddart, who has held board roles for organisations including Global Women and the Financial Markets Authority and
  • Professor Cathy Stinear, a neuroscientist and Chair of the Neurological Foundation of New Zealand’s Council.

Able to tune in from where she is self-isolating at home, Deputy Head Prefect Paris Wither said that she really enjoyed the session.

“I liked how there was a panel of women instead of just one as it gave more perspective,” she said.
