Start your BBQs, it's House Cook Off time!

King's students at the 2019 House Cook-Off

We wrapped up last week's Student Health Week with our flagship event, the House Cook Off! This is always an event everyone knows and loves and the support shown was outstanding.

For this competition each House team had the goal of preparing a healthy and delicious meal for our three judges: former Masterchef New Zealand finalist Vanessa Baxter, as well as our very own Headmaster, Simon Lamb and Food and Beverage Manager Mr Stanton.

The dishes varied from tuna tataki to a good old homemade steak sandwich. The judges were astonished with the level of talent presented on the plates and struggled to pick a winner.

However, Marsden won the judges over with their immaculate presentation of seared salmon on black rice and earned themselves first place. Middlemore followed in second place with their impressive effort of making tuna with sesame and seaweed and slaw. In third place was Greenbank with their twist on Asian inspired pork chops and bok choy.

Ruby Gibson (Year 12, Taylor) and Luke Fowlie (Year 13, Averill)

Thank you to the Friends for sponsoring the cooking ingredients and prizes.

*We held a school-wide mufti day of this day, with money raised from donations going to Mercy Ships.
