After a three week break the Boys’ First XI secured another three points in the Super City competition with a 1-0 win over Kristin School.

Played in perfect conditions at King’s the team had numerous opportunities from penalty corners and field play which were squandered by an outstanding performance from the Kristin goalkeeper. It wasn’t until five minutes into the third quarter that King’s registered on the scoreboard with a follow-up shot from captain Jarrod Berry (Year 13, Peart) after the initial penalty corner was saved. Although the structure and lead up play was pleasing, it was the lack of clinical finishing in the circle which needs to improve.

King’s is currently third on the table with two crucial games next week to decide play-off positions:

Monday 9 August: King's College v St Kentigern College 7pm at King’s College
Wednesday 11 August 6:45pm: King's College v Auckland Grammar School 6:45pm at Auckland Grammar School

Additional recognition must go to Karl Wallace (Year 12, Parnell) for his recent invitation to the NZ U18 Mens Hockey National Camp which is an impressive achievement and fantastic opportunity.
