The EPro8 Challenge is a series of engineering and problem solving competitions for New Zealand secondary students.

220826 EPRO8

This year, we had a record number of teams competing in the national Epro8 engineering competition. The competition involves a number of challenges requiring students to construct structures and create appropriate circuits. Examples of previous problems include having to construct a bridge that can cross a 2.5m wide river, and then add traffic light systems, which detect traffic flows.

Two teams came joint 2nd, securing them a spot in the Auckland wide semi-finals in September. Well done to the students in these teams: James Barrington (Year 9, Greenbank), Brendan Lian (Year 9, Peart), Hamish Patel-Smith (Year 9, Averill), Lachlan Tanhe (Year 9, Major), Gary Jia (Year 10, Greenbank), Berenger Iverson (Year 10, Greenbank), Emre Soydinc (Year 9, Averill) and Theodore Lau (Year 10, Selwyn).
