Headmaster’s message

We are very excited about the recent addition of a Performing Arts Centre to our facilities. Not only does it exemplify the College’s commitment to the Performing Arts but it also endorses existing programmes and introduces new art forms to the College’s offering to our students. The Performing Arts is vital to the new future ahead of them as they venture in the world, rounding out the best all round proposition at King’s.

Initiated by a generous lead gift from treasured Old Collegian Michael Flanagan (Peart, 1951–55), our new Centre not only lifts King’s connection with the arts, but it also changes the profile of our campus.  The building itself is integrated into the environment around it – when you are inside, you can see the oak trees through the windows and when you are outside, you can hear the music flowing out onto the fields and wider campus due to the building design.

The centre includes a specialist theatre that features sound, lighting and set infrastructure, so we can now teach sound, lighting and set design here at the College. It also features specialist orchestra room, a rock room, rehearsal rooms, three teaching spaces and a specialist dance and drama space which are already being well used by our staff and students.

Simply put, the Performing Arts Centre is a new building block to providing the Best All-Round Education. We would love to show you around this incredible new space so please get in touch if you would like a tour.
