While Cyclone Gabrielle continues to run its course over the North Island, our understanding is that Auckland has now endured the worst of its effects. Damage to the College site is minimal and work is underway this afternoon to remove a few fallen trees.

We are confident that the College is safe and therefore will be open tomorrow, Wednesday 15 February.

Families wishing to return tonight may wish to consider that there may well still be high winds this evening. Therefore, our preference is that Boarders return tomorrow morning but if this is not possible, the Boarding Houses will be open from 6pm – 8.30pm for returning students.

If, for any reason, your son or daughter is unable to attend school tomorrow, please notify our Attendance Officers in the usual manner. We will continue to keep a close eye on the situation and if anything changes in terms of our plans to reopen tomorrow, we will let the community know as soon as possible.

For all those whanau attending the Māori Advisory Committee’s Pō Whakwhanaunga, this event will be going ahead tomorrow, Wednesday 15 February from 6.30 – 8.30pm. If you are no longer able to make it please contact our events team and they will cancel your ticket: events@kingscollege.school.nz.

We are looking forward to welcoming back our students to King’s tomorrow.
