The Phillips Society was honoured to welcome Cassie Roma, a globally recognised leader in the fields of social media, marketing and branding, and the founder and director of CR&Co, a self-started brand-consultancy and multimedia company.

Cassie has made significant contributions to social media and digital marketing for global brands such as Air New Zealand, ANZ Bank, NZME, the Warehouse Group, and Mighty River Power among many others.

This charismatic and empowering speaker spoke to the King’s students about her experiences as a LGBTQ+ woman in the male-dominated world of business, and shared important life lessons about resilience and flexibility that were inspiring not only to budding entrepreneurs, but everyone in the audience.

One of the most poignant lessons from Cassie’s talk was the importance of kindness. She recounted how as a woman, she was expected to be subservient and ‘nice’ in the workplace, and how her ideas were sometimes dismissed in the boardroom.

Cassie is also a firm believer in pursuing your own “just cause”, which is an issue that we want to see changed in the world that we feel passionate about. Through her experiences as a keynote speaker, educator, and businesswoman, she has shown us by example the significant impact a person can have on their communities.

We are looking forward to welcoming our next speaker, Bryan Eible, the owner and operator of Nike Britomart Auckland, on the 22nd of June.
