Last month, students studying IGCSE, AS and A2 Physical Education visited the University of Waikato’s Sport Science laboratory and Avantidrome track in Cambridge, which is also the home of New Zealand Cycling.

Students were given the unique opportunity to experience putting ‘theory into practice’ by utilising the world class facilities, applying theoretical topics and concepts learnt in the classroom and bringing them to life in a meaningful way.

Students were also given the opportunity to participate in a track cycling session and watch the current NZ Olympic Sprint and Endurance track team in a training session in preparation for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

Overall this was an extremely enjoyable, valuable and insightful experience for all students. A special mention must also go to Callum Jeffries and James McGuire who performed exceptionally well in their VO2 max tests.
