Thursday 19 August 2021

King's College warmly welcomes you to attend a special STEAM and beyond seminar presented by current student Amelia Lockley.

Due to the August 2021 Alert Level 4 lockdown, this event has been postponed until further notice.

In recent years STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) has become an important topic for everyone. Our society has been developing technology and moving further ahead with STEAM at an alarming rate in comparison to the rest of the education sector. The younger generation has been immersed in technology their whole lives and always will be, including in their jobs. While we need STEAM, society’s current fixation with it has had an impact on other disciplines. We still need other sectors to flourish like accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship.

We are going to explore STEAM and Entrepreneurship with the following guest speakers:

  1. Cecilia Robinson (My Food Bag and Tend Health)
  2. Greg Cross (Soul Machines)
  3. Maru Nihoniho (founding CEO of game development studio Metia Interactive)
  4. Dr Michelle Dickinson (Nanogirl Labs)
  5. Peter Beck (Rocket Lab)
  6. King’s College subject teacher

This will be spectacular interactive session as we will be discussing the current issues and beyond. Join us on Thursday 19 August 2021 from 17.30 to 19.30 at King’s College. This event is open to public (Year 7 and above), so please ensure you get in quick.
