Congratulations to Old Collegian, James Lay (Parnell, 2007-11) for his recent debut for the Blues Super Rugby team.

James Lay

James was a titanic member of the frontline of the College's 1st XV while at King's and later played provincial rugby for both Auckland and the Bay of Plenty before going abroad to play for the highly successful Bristol Bears team in England's Gallagher Premiership.

During this time, James also represented the Samoan national team and represented the country in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The COVID-19 pandemic saw James return to New Zealand in 2020 where he played for Auckland in the Mitre 10 Premiership. His stellar performance led to a signing with the Blues as a prop for the upcoming 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season.

The College welcomes James back and congratulates him on his return to New Zealand rugby. We wish him all the best in the competition.
