The First XI Hockey continued their good form with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Mt Roskill Grammar School to finish 3rd in the Auckland Competition.

210611 First XI Hockey Supercity Competition

From the outset, King’s dominated possession and within 5 minutes were two goals up courtesy of Danny Jeeves (Year 13, Selwyn) and Max Stening (Year 13, St John's).

King’s speed on the counter-attack created numerous circle entries but the final pass/shot went awry. In the 15th minute Danny Jeeves once again hit the target and this was followed by another goal from Tom Lindberg (Year 12, Greenbank) just before half-time.

Going into the break 4-0, the focus was to continue with a structured passing game and speed on the break. In the 8th minute of the second half King’s scored their 5th goal with a well-worked penalty corner - Scott Illerbrun (Year 10, School) getting the final touch. However, as with previous games, we tended to give away a lot of possession and held onto the ball for too long. Mt Roskill got on the scoreboard with a penalty stroke late in the game.

Next week the team now go into the SuperCity Competition with the top 4 teams in North Harbour and Auckland.
