King's is a community where much care and attention is given to student wellbeing.
Positive Education and Pastoral Care are a whole College responsibility, with all staff taking a professional proactive role in ensuring that all students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential.
Counselling can assist people to better understand their experience and explore ways of improving their lives. It can also provide resources via education, referral, and strategies to assist students in their development during the adolescent years.
Our Head of Counselling - Lexi Gallagher-Parkinson
Lexi’s passion for supporting young people began right here in Auckland, where she stepped into her first counselling role looking after the wellbeing of over 1,000 students across Years 1–13 at ACG Parnell.
From there, she joined the large and experienced wellbeing team at Rangitoto College. Over her four and a half years there, Lexi truly made her mark, spearheading the Peer Support Programme and reshaping the counselling service to ensure that every student received efficient, compassionate and deeply effective care.
In 2026, we are thrilled to welcome Lexi to the King's College family as our Head of Counselling. Lexi’s practice naturally aligns with Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) and Solution-Focused approaches. This means her counselling style is warm and collaborative as well as practical - helping students learn to navigate tough emotions while focusing on their strengths and the real-world steps needed to move forward. Dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive and uplifting space, Lexi and the counselling team are here to ensure our students and staff have the tools and support they need to thrive.
