Held at Kamo Rugby Club, the 2026 Whangārei Boys' U15 Rugby Festival was alive with competition from secondary school teams from all over New Zealand.
Day One
Our U15 Rugby team fought hard against a physically dominant Liston College team. They were dogged in their probing attacks at the Liston try-line, but were unable to breach their defence with quick counter attacks from Liston in the turnover creating the most damage.
Final score: King's 0 vs 27 Liston College
Day Two
The King's team were looking to bounce back with a focus on scoring early points and staying connected. Early injuries prevented our attacking momentum leading to a first half stalemate at 0-0.
The second half continued in a similar fashion with Massey High School eventually deemed to have scored a try by millimetres. King's finally found a scoring opportunity from the wing to equal at 5-5. The final minutes of the game saw both teams come close to tries, and a penalty to Massey straight in front of the uprights on the final whistle allowed them to convert the penalty for an 8-5 win.
