Held at the Waikato Netball Centre in Hamilton, our Girls' Premier 1 Netball team played across five days at the 2026 Upper North Island Secondary Schools Netball Tournament.

Day One
We had two games today and came away with two wins! This means we are now through to the Top 16, which is a great start to the tournament. There was plenty of determination, teamwork and encouragement on court, and it was great to see the girls backing each other throughout both games.
Game One

Day Two
Another great day of netball. The girls won both their games again, showing resilience and great team spirit throughout the day. The second game of the day vs Western Springs was particularly exciting with the teams neck and neck for most of the game and King's finally getting the win in the last minute.
The support court side has been really encouraging with spectators including Headmaster Mr Gale and Deputy Head - Pastoral Mr Farr cheering the team on!
Another two big games tomorrow. We are now currently top 12 and need one more game to secure Top 8 in our grade.

Day Three
The girls had to work hard today but they continued to bring the energy and enthusiasm they've had from the start of the tournament. Our morning game was a tough one and saw us just beaten by one point.
However, the team came back stronger in the afternoon with another nail biter, taking the win over Long Bay College by two points! These results now mean we are currently in the Top 8 in our grade and, as a result of our win against Long Bay, we have topped Pool B in Stage 2, with those points being carried over into Stage 3.
Tomorrow sees the team playing against Cambridge High School and Hobsonville Point Secondary School for Top 4 in the grade. A huge day as the Top 5 in the grade will automatically go up to A grade for next year's competition!

Day Four
First game against Cambridge High was a tough, closely fought game, with the girls unfortunately going down by just four points. They were understandably disappointed, but there was no time to dwell on it, we had a big afternoon game ahead and plenty still to play for.
For the second game of the day, the girls came out with plenty of determination and energy and secured the win! And what a win it was. This result meant that we had finished in the Top 4 in our grade, which meant that King’s Premier 1 will move up to A Grade next year!
This was a massive achievement for the team and for King’s College. This is the first time in King’s history that the Premier Netball team has been promoted to A grade — the top 32 teams in the Upper North Island. We are incredibly proud of the girls and all the work they have put in, not just this week but throughout the season.

Day Five
Two losses today. The team gave it their all, despite the challenging weather conditions and have finished the tournament in 4th place in B Grade out of 32 teams. As previously mentioned, the Top 5 teams are automatically promoted to A grade next year so the girls are absolutely stoked with the final result of the week. What an amazing tournament!
