Excitement is building rapidly as we gear up for opening night of Mamma Mia! Rehearsal rooms are buzzing, choreography is tightening, and the unmistakable sound of ABBA classics is echoing through our Toi Manawa Music and Performing Arts Centre. From the first read-through to full production runs, our cast has embraced the energy, humour and heart of this iconic show.
Vocals are soaring, harmonies are locking in and the ensemble numbers are bursting with enthusiasm and precision. The band has been working tirelessly to capture the signature ABBA sound of driving rhythms, sparkling keys and that infectious disco feel that makes this musical so recognisable and irresistible.
Behind the scenes, costumes are being fitted, lighting cues programmed, and set pieces assembled, as staff and students work hard to transform the stage into a sun-soaked Greek island. Production week brings long rehearsals, technical refinement and that special mix of nerves and anticipation that only live theatre can create. What stands out most is the spirit of collaboration. Senior students are leading with confidence, younger performers are rising to the challenge, and cast, crew and musicians are united in a shared commitment to excellence.
The countdown is on. The stage is set. Opening night promises an unforgettable celebration of music, storytelling, and student talent at King’s College, we can’t wait to see you there!
