The time line for Year 11 students during Term 4 is:
Weeks 1 - 3: Students are in class.
Week 4: Labour day and Staff only day mean a four day weekend including Monday and Tuesday - Wednesday - Friday of that week, students will be on exam leave.
Week 5 - 6: Students will be sitting exams
Week 7: Two days of exams then three days back in class getting exam results back.
Last day for Year 11 is Friday 21 November - Week 7.
Positive outcomes for this programme:
We have increased teaching time by five weeks for Year 11. We removed the two week exam block in Term 3 and Year 11 students are now in class for the first three weeks of Term 4.
We have also been able to manage the curriculum content to either remove the pressure on the pace of delivery or to soften the jump in cognitive level required moving from Year 11 to 12 because we aren’t governed by an external exam.
For our Year 11 students, we are running exams in the form of a senior external exam experience. We believe that the Year 11 exams need to be taken seriously as it is the first year where there are pre-requisites in place for students to be able to take the subject the following year. This means that there are three days of exam study and then two and half weeks of exams.
