Tennis Teams Win Bronze at Tournament Week

Wednesday 1 April 2026

Congratulations to the Premier Boys and Girls Tennis teams who both won bronze medals at the New Zealand Secondary School Tennis Championships last week at the TotalCoach Tennis Centre in Merton Road.

Congratulations to the Premier Boys and Girls Tennis teams who both won bronze medals at the New Zealand Secondary School Tennis Championships last week at the TotalCoach Tennis Centre in Merton Road. To reach the semi-finals was a great success for both teams, but unfortunately their bronze medal play-off games were both postponed after a long wait due to slippery wet courts meaning that the medals were shared.

Both teams would have relished the opportunity to play for their medals at the Championship. The Premier Boys shared bronze medals with Christchurch Boys High School and the Premier Girls shared theirs with St Andrew's College.

The Premier Boys team of Captain Jaedon Gin (Year 13, Greenbank), Oscar Chesterman (Year 11, Averill), Jacob Bargh (Year 11, Marsden), Declan Tanhe (Year 10, Major) and Harry Driscoll (11, Selwyn) can reflect though on an excellent season that saw them win silver medals in the Auckland competition and bronze medals at nationals, both fantastic achievements for this young team.

The Premier Girls team of Captain Zoe Driscoll (Year 13, Middlemore), Samaara Robin (Year 11, Marion Bruce), Chloe Rawlence (Year 12, Marion Bruce) and Charlotte McCashin (Year 12, Middlemore) can also be delighted with their season, finishing only fifth in the Auckland competition, yet raising themselves to win bronze medals at nationals ahead of other Auckland teams that had finished higher than them in the season.
