This past week, three current Students, four Old Collegians and one of our staff members represented New Zealand at the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships held in Darwin, Australia.
With numerous standout performances, our athletes achieved an impressive collection of finalists' placings and personal bests on the international stage!
Congratulations to Sam Rickerby (Year 13, Peart), Kahu Cotterill (School, 2020-24), Joseph Dunn (Averill, 2019-23), Toby Tasker (Peart, 2018-22), Hayato Yoneto, Jetta McKenzie (Year 13, Marion Bruce), Gemma Smith (Year 13, Taylor) and Zar Heather-Rau (St. John's, 2023-25) on your outstanding results and incredible efforts!

Gemma Smith:
U18 Women 400m Hurdles - 1:03.91 — Fourth Place
High Jump - 1.55m — Eighth Place
Jetta Mckenzie:
Senior Women 100m Hurdles - 15.38 PB (15.60 Prelims) — Fifth Place
Samuel Rickerby:
Senior Men 3000m Steeplechase - 10:19.23 — Fifth Place
Kahu Cotterill:
Senior Men 400m - 47.68 — Sixth Place (47.66 Prelims)
Joseph Dunn:
Senior Men 110m Hurdles - 15.66 — Ninth Overall
Hayato Yoneto:
Senior Men 100m - 10.43 =PB (Heats), 10.84 (Semis), 10.74 (Final - Eighth Place)
Relays
Kahu Cotterill was part of the Senior Mixed 4x400m B Team that placed second overall.
Gemma Smith was also part of the U18 Mixed 4x400m B Team that placed fourth in the Final.
Hayato Yoneto was a part of the Senior Men 4x100m team that won gold in a time of 39.64. In the same race, Zar Heather-Rau stepped up to the Seniors to break the Cook Islands Senior 4x100m relay record of 43.13!
A special congratulations to Sam and Jetta, who stepped up and were selected for the Senior grade despite still being U20!
