From a Student Perspective - Staying In Weekend for Boarding Students

Thursday 28 August 2025

This weekend was an excellent stay in, we started off the weekend with some chill time which was good for us to clean and prepare ourselves for the upcoming week.

Then we had our first major activity where we took a bus to go watch King’s versus St Kent’s in the 1A final. The game was thrilling watching try after try. In the end, we ended up winning the game which was made better with our Boarding peers celebrating with each other. After the entertaining game we went to Sylvia Park where we had dinner.

On Sunday it was much more chill, with a later wake up letting our bodies rest after a long week. After an amazing brunch we headed to Toi Manawa to try out some VR. In the theatre there were four headsets set up where we could play a range of games from chill games like golf, to games that were more thrilling like boxing and Beat Saber. This was a fun and enlightening experience which was unique to anything I’ve ever done. Then we had a break from the VR where we spent time playing some sports outside which let our energy out. Then we returned to the theatre where we did an inter-House VR competition on beatsaber. This was fun as we got to see how other Houses played and to see what house came on top.

In summary, this weekend was one of the most thrilling weekends of my time in the Lodge and was definitely worth staying in.
