On Saturday 15 March, King’s College students once again demonstrated their community spirit and enthusiasm at the annual Ōtāhuhu Fun Day. The event, a much-anticipated fixture on the local calendar, saw a fantastic turnout of students eager to lend a hand and contribute to the day. Unlike last year, the weather was in fine form - if not a little too generous - with a heatwave prompting quick dashes for sunscreen and an impressive amount of water consumed throughout the day!
Our students were at the heart of the action, managing a variety of activities and stalls that brought smiles to attendees of all ages. From face painting and a sausage sizzle to popcorn, candyfloss and a popular cupcake stall, there was no shortage of treats and entertainment. They also took charge of running the bouncy castle and overseeing the recycling process, proving that even the less desirable jobs were handled with commitment and good humour.
What truly stood out was the willingness of our students to get involved wherever needed. Whether helping behind the scenes or stepping up for impromptu performances on stage, their energy and positivity were contagious. The organising committee and I were incredibly grateful to every student who gave up their Saturday to support the event. Their efforts not only ensured the day ran smoothly but also showcased the values and spirit of King’s to the wider community.
