Sydney Swifts Netball team

Premier Netballers Travel to Sydney

Wednesday 7 May 2025

From April 11–17, thirteen athletes from the King’s Premier Netball team embarked on an unforgettable pre-season trip to Sydney - a week that tested their skills, deepened their friendships, and strengthened their love for the game.

The trip began with energy heading straight to a training session with Australian Kelpie Men’s Netball Captain and Assistant Coach with Sydney Swifts SSNL Dylan Nexhip. His technical insight and targeted drills gave the players a sharp start and set the tone for the week ahead.

The first few days were filled with team bonding, beach visits to Manly and Bondi, and even an evening cheering on the NSW Swifts in a thrilling, high-stakes match. The girls soaked up the professional atmosphere, later attending a Swifts training session where they observed elite netball in action and met Silver Ferns Coach Noeline Tairua, Silver Ferns Shooter Grace Nweke and English Rose superstar shooter Helen Houseby.

The competition on court was fierce. In their first match against Abbotsleigh, the King’s team battled hard in a fast-paced game that went down to the wire. Although narrowly edged out, the team remained positive and focused. Their second match, against the impressive Barkers team, was another intense learning experience. Barkers' strong team cohesion made an impact, but King’s resilience, adaptability, and positive mindset shone through, despite another defeat. Our last match with Pymble Ladies College showed the weeks work presented with genuine energy as our girls delivered an outstanding game with a win.  Players supported each other throughout, with visible signs that lessons from training and observation were being implemented.

One of the standout moments came on the final day, when the team participated in a personal training session with Australian Diamond netball star Sarah Klau. Her warm and approachable style made a lasting impression, and every athlete received tailored advice and high-level skill drills. It was evident just hours later how much had sunk in - during their final match, the team played with outstanding energy, communication, and structure. With a lead secured in the final quarter, the girls rotated through new positions, finishing with confidence, creativity, and joy.

Off the court, the players explored Sydney’s iconic sights, shared meals, swapped stories, and supported one another with genuine camaraderie. More than just a sports tour, this was a week of development, growth, and pride. The King’s Premier Netball team represented their school with excellence and heart, returning stronger in spirit, skill, and friendship.
