On Wednesday 26 March, the Library hosted a badge presentation for students who give up part of their lunch hour to work in the Library. Most of the students receiving this acknowledgment have given at least a year’s service. Deputy Headmaster of Academics, Mr Geoff Smith, presented the badges to the recipients. Among this group were two students who received their Senior Library Assistant badges. Ayden Amath (Year 12, Averill) and Ian Chen (Year 11, Greenbank). These boys take on more responsibilities in this role, including marking the roll to ensure all library assistants turn up for duty, as well as assigning tasks to the library assistants, and also coordinating with Mr John Cummins or Mr Andrew Lockett.
- Three of the capital cities lying on the river Danube have names that begin with a B. Name one of them.
- Who was the longest-serving prime minister?
After the presentation, a light snack was served - the sliders and sausages went down a treat. Many thanks to the wonderful chefs in the kitchen for the preparation of the food. Of course, a library function would not be a proper one without a quiz, prepared by our own quiz master Mr Lockett. A sample of the types of questions appears at the top of this article.
The winning team, Sigma Squad, had a score of 32 and won a block of chocolate each. Miller Lash (Year 10, Selwyn), Luke Sinclair-Grant (Year 11, Selwyn), Emily Yang (Year 11, Taylor), Kunwoo Cho (Year 11, Selwyn) and Min Zhou (Year 9, Major) were the squad members.
The following students received their Library Assistant badges:
Xander van der Kolk (Year 11, Greenbank), Alex Moore (Year 10, Selwyn), Marco Ferguson (Year 10, Selwyn), Harper Wilkin (Year 10, School), Lachie Turbott (Year 11, Greenbank), Seth Packard (Year 10, Peart), Enoch Cham (Year 11, Greenbank), Seb Segers (Year 11, Parnell) and Sebastian Corso de La Mothe Fenelon (Year 11, Major). Ayden Amath and Ian Chen also received their Senior Library Assistant badges.
