During the holidays, Ray Shi (Year 13, Peart) proudly represented New Zealand as one of six team members at the International Mathematical Olympiad, held this year on the Sunshine Coast. This prestigious global competition brought together over 600 contestants from more than 100 countries. Ray’s selection for the New Zealand team followed a rigorous, year-long process, achieving high performance across multiple competitions, including two rounds each of the New Zealand, British, and Australian Mathematical Olympiads, as well as the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad.
During the international event, participants faced a total of nine hours of examinations over two days, tackling highly challenging problems across a wide range of mathematical fields.
Ray’s years of dedication, talent, and perseverance earned him a well-deserved Bronze medal for New Zealand. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ray on this outstanding achievement - well done!
