Kia ora Parents and Guardians,
We have enjoyed a great week at the College. Our Senior students have all departed the year with grace and decorum. We have been delighted with the ways they have conducted themselves over recent weeks and look forward to celebrating with our Year 13 leavers at their graduation dinner next month as tickets are now on sale.
As always, we remain very willing and available to assist any students who need some additional support as they prepare for their upcoming academic exams - please don’t hesitate to get in touch for any help or advice in the next few weeks.
Our Year 11 students will start their examinations soon, with the first one on Monday 3 November, and juniors are also getting themselves in the right mindset for their upcoming testing. These are important moments in the learning process, so we expect all students, at whatever level they are working at, to make the most of the opportunity and to prepare well. This is especially relevant to our Year 11 students whose results will be well scrutinised as they look towards the 2026 academic year.
The fact that we are well into exam season always signals the final steps to the end of the current school year. There are many events and celebrations to note and I highlight a few here encouraging you all to save the date for them, particularly as we start to approach these traditionally busy months:
- Senior Prizegiving - 14 November - Holy Trinity Cathedral
- New Girls and Boarders Morning Tea - 16 November
- Graduation Dinner - 28 November - Cordis
- House Suppers - Various dates
- Chapel Carol Service - 30 November
- New Day Students Information Afternoon - 1 December
- Junior and Year 11 Prizegiving - 3 December
The Carol Service held in our Memorial Chapel is always a great event, so I encourage you to come along to that and enjoy the Christmas experience.
Looking to next year, the College is organising the finishing requirements with roll, budget and staffing well in hand. We have all arrangements in place, and our processes are tracking on schedule to be ready for Term 1. It’s an important time for all schools, including King’s, as we continue to finish the current year well on a high note, while working to ensure that the next is also well in order.
Please do not hesitate to contact the College if you have any concerns or questions.
I am always available at s.lamb@kingscollege.school.nz if you’re not sure who to ask in the first instance.
Regards
Simon Lamb - Headmaster
