Welcome back to Term 2.
It’s been a joy to see the campus humming with energy again as the new term gets underway. Between the House Music rehearsals echoing through the halls and the pre-season buzz on the sports fields, the King’s spirit is in full swing. Over the weekend I attended the Anzac Day Service at the College Memorial Chapel - a very special event with many of our community members attending. I was very proud of our students who played a role in the service formalities.
As we head into a new season, I’ll be encouraging our students to lead with integrity, in particular, ensuring that they are showing respect to referees and opponents alike. I hope you too, join us in modelling that same positive spirit from the sports sidelines. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who make this all possible; we truly couldn't do it without you.
I’m currently writing to you from the USA, where I’ve been catching up with some of our Old Collegians who are based here. Hearing how King's helped shape their careers in New York was a proud moment for me.
Interestingly, top recruiters here at Goldman Sachs confirmed exactly what we believe: the world is looking for 'all-round' people who bring character and collaboration to the table. It’s a great reminder of why the journey our students take here is so valuable.
I'm disappointed that I am unable to attend my first Small House Music in person on Friday, especially as I know that our students and staff members have worked so hard to ensure that the performances tomorrow are fantastic.
I am very grateful that the event will be livestreamed and I hope that many of you are able to tune in to celebrate the incredible musical talent that we have at the College, when our Houses perform tomorrow afternoon. A sincere thank you to our sponsors - The Friend's of King's College and Archibald & Shorter - who help to ensure that these events are such a success.
