King's College grounds

Headmaster's Update - 23 October 2026

Wednesday 21 October 2026

Term 4 brings one of the highlights of the King’s calendar: our annual House dinners, when we welcome parents and students together to celebrate the year and farewell our Year 13 students. Our 12 Houses are at the heart of the King’s experience. They give every student a place to belong and provide the outstanding pastoral care our families value so highly.

That sense of belonging matters. When students feel valued at school and supported at home, their motivation, attendance and engagement flourish. Research consistently shows that these two anchors build the focus, resilience and long-term academic success we want for every King’s student. The House dinners give us a chance to get together, reflect on the growth our students have made this year, and celebrate it together as a community. We are fortunate to have an amazing hospitality team at the College and thank them for all their hard work during this very busy time of year.

Summer is here, and the College fields are once again alive with the sound of bat on ball. We are fortunate to have such outstanding facilities at King’s. Thanks to the hard work of our grounds team, the pitches are in excellent condition at a time of year when the weather can play havoc with preparation. Longer daylight hours also mean our student rowers are spending more time on the water as preparations begin in earnest for the season ahead. From the dining hall to the cricket pitch and the river, Term 4 shows the breadth of a King’s education at its best, and we look forward to sharing the rest of the last term of the year with you.
