A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the vibrant atmosphere at King’s over the past fortnight.
Meeting so many parents at the Lantern Festival and the Headmaster’s Garden Party was a personal highlight for me. This level of engagement speaks volumes about the strength of our community and the shared commitment we have to our students’ success. I am also deeply grateful to the Asia Committee; their hard work resulted in a stunning evening to welcome the Year of the Horse. You can see the photos from the night here.
Academic Focus
In my ongoing efforts to learn the 'inner workings' of King’s, I am currently meeting with every Head of Department. We are looking closely at our academic offerings, celebrating last year’s successes, and sharpening our focus for 2026. These insights are particularly useful as I represent the sector in discussions with the Ministry of Education about the future direction of education. I am an advocate for higher standards in our national curriculum and assessment programmes - I believe that by combining academic rigour with tailored guidance, we can significantly improve outcomes for all young New Zealanders.
House Swimming and Athletics
While our last deadline fell just before House Swimming, this week’s House Athletics competition provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate both. You can see a short video of the Swimming Sports here with the full results listed on our website.
These events have been spectacular - easily the best in-school sports events I’ve experienced! The competition was impressive, but it was the House spirit and the way that the students supported one another that really demonstrated the true heart of the College.
