The College is exceptionally busy at the moment, with students juggling multiple commitments with Big House Music and winter sports in full swing. A particular highlight was last Saturday’s School Ball held in central Auckland at the Cordis. It was a spectacular evening, made even better by the impeccable behaviour of our students. My sincere thanks go to the organisers and the parents whose support behind the scenes ensured the night was a resounding success.
While we celebrate our success on the stage and the field, we are now setting our sights on a different kind of summit. This week, we have published the timetable for our NZQA Scholarship classes. These sessions are more than just extra study, they are an invitation to compete against the academic elite of New Zealand. Scholarship is a mark of true distinction, awarded to only the top 3% of the national Year 13 cohort. For those who push further into the top 1%, the 'Outstanding' Award awaits.
For students eyeing prestigious universities in Australia, the UK, the USA, or beyond, a Scholarship is a powerful 'point of difference' that signals you are among the very best in NZ, adding another player on top of rank scores. For students remaining in New Zealand, multiple scholarships can unlock significant monetary rewards for tertiary study. This programme is an opportunity to engage with a new level of academic rigour and see exactly what each student is capable of achieving. Our teachers are currently identifying students who show the drive for this level of work and identifying the cross over between Cambridge content and NZQA scholarship specifications. If students have the ambition to test their mettle against the best in the country, I encourage them to approach their subject teachers for guidance on suitability and session times.
