Our community was out in force for a brilliant celebration of Pasifika culture at our Fiafia night last week. Student performances were exceptional, with laughter, support and a delicious variety of food helping to create a truly special atmosphere. A powerful speech focusing on diversity and belonging by Old Collegian, Isi Tupou (School, 2000-03), served as an important reminder of the power of cultural connection.
My sincere thanks to our Pacific Advisory Committee and everyone in our community who contributed toward such a memorable evening.
Congratulations to our Performing Arts Department for the incredible array of awards and activities they have been involved in over the past two weeks. It has been a very successful fortnight, featuring:
● The successful Choir Camp and Project Youth Dance competition.
● Sasquatch gaining third place in the regional Smokefree Rockquest live music competition.
● Henry Wang (Year 11, Greenbank) and Ella Zhang (Year 12, Taylor) earning a coveted Highly Commended Award at the Auckland Chamber Music Regionals.
This weekend, we look forward to welcoming our traditional rugby rivals, Auckland Grammar School, to King’s to compete for the Cooper-Greenbank Cup. Please be aware that we are expecting a large crowd for this fixture. To ensure everything runs smoothly, parking on campus will be closely managed, and our staff will be on hand to direct supporters to the appropriate areas on the day.
We look forward to a great weekend of sport and community spirit.
