It has been an incredible start to the season for our girls Touch Rugby team!
On Tuesday night they played their very first games together after just two trainings. During the two matches, the girls demonstrated their resilience and determination along with some outstanding teamwork from the very first whistle.
Our opening match against Baradene College was a true test of grit. After a long day of school athletics, we began the game with just four players on the field. Despite this challenge, the girls dug deep and worked tirelessly to earn a well-deserved 1-1 draw.
The second game against St Cuthbert’s College was nothing short of amazing. With their confidence building and energy high, the girls played with flair, structure and composure, finishing with an impressive 7-0 win. It was an outstanding team performance, showcasing their skills and the effort they put in.
Our try scorers were Aria Fuller (Year 13, Middlemore) (2), Amber Farrell (Year 12, Middlemore) (1), Mollie Tohaia (Year 12, Middlemore) (1), Eden Clyma (Year 11, Taylor) (1), and Micah Fuller (Year 11, Middlemore) (3), but every player contributed to the success on the field.
For a team that is brand new, this was a remarkable debut. We couldn’t be prouder of the girls, their attitude and support for one another truly reflected what school sport is all about. An exciting season lies ahead!
