First XI Cricket Team - Starting Term 4 With a Win

Wednesday 21 October 2026

The First XI returned to their Premier Boys’ 50-over campaign on Saturday with a hard-fought five-wicket victory over St Peter’s College in an entertaining contest.

After winning the toss, King’s put in an excellent bowling performance to dismiss St Peter’s for 101. Ed Mitchelson (Year 13, Marsden) (3-15) and Hugo Bricklebank (Year 12, Averill) (3-22) led the way with the ball, keeping the pressure on throughout the innings.

The run chase got off to a positive start, with Sammy Bamford (Year 13, Major) and Ollie Sinclair (Year 12, Greenbank) putting on 36 for the first wicket. However, two of St Peter’s Auckland representative pace bowlers turned the game on its head, reducing King’s to 40-4 with a flurry of quick wickets.

With the pressure on, Barney Foote (Year 13, Averill) and Lucca Stredder (Year 13, Parnell) showed great composure and maturity, putting together an unbeaten partnership to guide King’s home and secure a valuable victory. It was an excellent example of staying calm under pressure and finding a way to get the job done.
