Following a week of pre-season training and fixtures during the holidays, the First XI Cricket team concluded their preparations with a traditional fixture against Whanganui Collegiate School on Saturday here at King’s.
Game 1 - Wednesday 1 October v Northland U19 (50 overs)
Northland U19: 113 all out (38.3 overs) – Joel Gardner (Year 13, St John's) 4-25, Cooper Fenwick (Year 13, Peart) 2-18
King’s College First XI: 296-8 (40 overs) – Oscar Holt (Year 11, Parnell) 53* (retired), Malcolm Barrow (Year 12, School) 53* (retired)
Result: King’s College won by 9 wickets
Game 2 - Thursday 2 October v Rosmini First XI (50 overs)
King’s College First XI: 223-8 (46 overs) – Varnan Pasupati (Year 13, Greenbank) 38 (41 balls), Edward Mitchelson (Year 12, Marsden) 35 (38 balls), Tom McCulloch (Year 12, Greenbank) 30* (24 balls), Tom Boucher (Year 13, Greenbank) 30 (40 balls)
Rosmini First XI: 118 all out (46 overs) – Tom McCulloch 3-24 (9), Aekkam Sarao (Year 12, Parnell) 3-16 (9)
Result: King’s College won by 105 runs
Game 3 - Friday 3 October v Rosmini First XI - Cancelled due to rain
Game 4 - Saturday 11th October v Whanganui Collegiate School (110-over declaration match)

Result: King’s College won by 126 runs
Currently sitting third on the table, the First XI now turn their attention to Round 10 of the Premier Boys Limited Overs Competition, which restarts this Saturday. We will face current competition leaders Westlake Boys High School, here at King’s for a 10.30am start.
