This year’s EPro8 engineering competition was another big success for our school, with over 140 students taking part and seven teams competing in the Auckland regional qualifications.
A huge congratulations goes to our junior team, the Monotones: George Abbott (Year 9, Major), Austin Jacobson (Year 9, Greenbank), Matthew Baird (Year 9, Marsden), and William Song (Year 9, Marsden) - who made it all the way to the Auckland finals. The final challenge had a spy theme, where teams designed and built bomb disposal robots and radio devices. The Monotones performed brilliantly under pressure and finished an impressive 8th place overall in Auckland.
In the senior competition, our KC Team 1—made up of Ian Chen (Year 11, Greenbank), Gaius Gaillard (Year 11, Peart), Zach Gleeson (Year 11, Averill), Hugo Bricklebank (Year 11, Averill) and Charlie Barron (Year 11, Marsden) also achieved great results, despite lacking some creativity with their team name - progressing to the semi finals. Their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills stood out in what was a very competitive field.
Overall, it has been another outstanding year for our school in EPro8, with strong representation across both junior and senior levels and plenty of inspiration for future engineers.
