On Thursday 1 May, 24 of our senior drama students had the exciting opportunity to attend a live performance of Murder on the Orient Express at the ASB Waterfront Theatre. This classic whodunnit, adapted from Agatha Christie’s famous novel, follows the brilliant detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a mysterious murder aboard the famous train.
The show featured a stunning set, dramatic lighting, and strong performances from a talented cast. For our students, it was not only a thrilling theatrical experience but also a valuable learning opportunity. As part of their end-of-year exams, students are required to write about a live drama performance, so this outing gave them firsthand exposure to professional stagecraft, acting techniques, and storytelling.
After the show, students were invited to take part in a Q&A session with some of the actors. They asked thoughtful questions about the production, the rehearsal process, and what it’s like to work in the theatre industry. It was a great chance to learn more about life on (and off) the stage.
Overall, the trip was both inspiring and educational, and we’re proud of how engaged and curious our students were throughout the experience.
