Community Service - Wrapping Up for 2026

Tuesday 25 November 2025

Another awesome year of Community Service is coming to an end. Having said that, I know that many of our wonderful students will be continuing to give of their time in their communities over the holiday break.

I am always humbled by the initiatives that our students are involved in and it is great to see the emails with verification of dates and hours committed to meaningful change in the lives of those who are in need in various ways.

Our students are involved in hospice work, with retirement villages and food banks, they work with refugees, help with afterschool care, fundraise for cancer and participate in so many more worthy activities.

As parents, I am sure that you are very proud of their commitment to making our society a little better than it was yesterday. These ongoing selfless actions of our students will continue to develop well-rounded, people-centred global citizens.

While writing this, I am aware that I am coming to the end of my third year here at King’s College in this role and I reflect on my own time as a student back in the seventies (I know, where did the time go?). For me, I believe that I would have been a far more selfless person leaving school for the last time at the end of 1980 if we had been encouraged to engage in the activities that Community Service encourages today.

So far, it has been a blessed journey for me, and I look forward to continuing in this role with your sons and daughters in 2026.

Bless you all for the holiday season, a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and a prosperous and safe New Year.
