I want to begin this final Chapel Update for the term, by expressing my thanks. It’s always good to appreciate the hard-work that people do and the contributions they make.
To begin, I’d like to say a massive thank you to the students and their families who have braved the winter term to attend our Sunday Chapel services. These services are a wonderful way to gather as a community, to take time to pause from our busy lives and to centre on things that matter. I want to recognise that this is sometimes not easy with the ‘squeeze’ of all that we collectively have to attend to, but it’s a valuable way for us to find solace and comfort in all that we face, and we hope you’ve found them helpful.
A huge thanks also to our ELT – led by our Headmaster, Mr Patrick Gale who are often present at these services – together with the Chapel Chapel Choir – led by Mr Steven Rapana and assisted by Mr Nicholas Forbes on the organ.
We’re always seeking to improve our offering – as part of these Sunday Chapel services – and should you wish to provide feedback to me as the Senior Chaplain, you’re always most welcome - please email me at g.walters@kingscollege.school.nz. We are already into a season of reflecting and preparing for next year, so please feel free to drop me a line – as we do this important work of bringing life to the ‘Heart of the College’.
On another note, I want to say a sincere thank you to our Chaplaincy team of Mr Max Masters and Mr Antony Horacek-Glading, as well as our team of Sacristans. They have done a wonderful job providing leadership, guidance as well as readings and prayers – not just this past term, but throughout this year. I want to acknowledge their kindness and generosity in providing informal pastoral care as well as encouraging their Houses to be involved in Community Service and Chapel initiatives. We wish them – together with all our senior students - the very best as they head into their exam season.
