Kia ora tatau,
I want to begin this final Chapel Update for the term, by expressing my thanks. It’s always good to appreciate the hard-work that people do and the contributions they make.
To begin, I’d like to say a massive thank you to the students and their families who have braved the winter term to attend our Sunday Chapel services. These services are a wonderful way to gather as a community, to take time to pause from our busy lives and to centre on things that matter. I want to recognise that this is sometimes not easy with the ‘squeeze’ of all that we collectively have to attend to, but it’s a valuable way for us to find solace and comfort in all that we face, and we hope you’ve found them helpful.
A huge thanks also to our ELT – led by our Headmaster, Mr Patrick Gale who are often present at these services – together with the Chapel Chapel Choir – led by Mr Steven Rapana and assisted by Mr Nicholas Forbes on the organ.
We’re always seeking to improve our offering – as part of these Sunday Chapel services – and should you wish to provide feedback to me as the Senior Chaplain, you’re always most welcome - please email me at g.walters@kingscollege.school.nz. We are already into a season of reflecting and preparing for next year, so please feel free to drop me a line – as we do this important work of bringing life to the ‘Heart of the College’.
On another note, I want to say a sincere thank you to our Chaplaincy team of Mr Max Masters and Mr Antony Horacek-Glading, as well as our team of Sacristans. They have done a wonderful job providing leadership, guidance as well as readings and prayers – not just this past term, but throughout this year. I want to acknowledge their kindness and generosity in providing informal pastoral care as well as encouraging their Houses to be involved in Community Service and Chapel initiatives. We wish and for them – together with all our senior students - the very best as they head into their exam season.
