Spark Arena came alive with roaring cheers and vibrant House spirit as it hosted the 2025 Big House Music Competition - a spectacular showcase of talent, teamwork and musical flair.
All 12 Houses delivered standout performances, each bringing bold musical arrangements, synchronised choreography, and a powerful sense of unity to the stage. The energy was electric and the crowd engagement made for an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
Judged across four key categories - Style, Togetherness, Accuracy, and Commitment - this year’s Big House Music not only highlighted musical talent but also celebrated leadership, collaboration and originality. From show-stopping vocal solos and high-energy dance moments to inventive mashups and creative storytelling, every performance was unique to the House who performed it.
Guest judges Kings, Ella Monnery and Kirsten Scouller were full of praise for the students, commending the professionalism, creativity and passion that was displayed by our students on stage. Their feedback reflected the high calibre of this much-anticipated annual event, cementing Big House Music 2025 as one for the history books.

🥇 1st Place – Middlemore
Hung Up - Madonna
Judges' Comments: Middlemore was the standout of the night, students praised for their professionalism, tight choreography, and infectious energy. The opening was visually striking, with a strong formation and stillness that set a polished tone. The choreography was consistently sharp and synchronised, considered the best of the evening. Costumes and harmonies were well-executed, and the band delivered an impressive sound, especially the powerful bassline and phenomenal flute arpeggios. The overall energy had the audience engaged, with many feeling compelled to dance along. A fantastic, well-rounded performance.
🥈 2nd Place – Marion Bruce
Summer of 69' - Bryan Adams
Judges' Comments: Marion Bruce was energetic, polished, and highly impressive. The students demonstrated strong teamwork, with tight choreography, clear vocals, and well-executed harmonies. The band was clean and well-rehearsed, complementing the performers' punchy and dynamic delivery. The opening made a strong impact, and the stylish outfits, slick fashion, and effective use of canons added to the overall visual appeal. The performance was cohesive, convincing, and thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
🥉 3rd Place – Major
Counting Stars - One Republic
Judges' Comments: Major stood out for its exceptional musicality and storytelling. The opening was widely praised as sensational, featuring impressive acting and a standout trumpet solo. The creative blend of OneRepublic and Star Wars was described as a stroke of genius, with vocals that were well blended and stunning, especially in the beginning. The band played strongly and confidently, with well-rehearsed harmonies in the bridge. Costumes were described as "next level," and the overall performance was fun, brilliant, and featured the best storytelling of the night.

In Summary
Adjudicator feedback praised the students’ passion, vocal strength, and willingness to take risks, whether through unexpected genre twists, clever skit, or complex arrangements. Importantly, every House showed commitment, embraced the spirit of the event and demonstrated the joy of performing to a big crowd.
